Sidamo is a Province in Ethiopia, and one of the most prolific coffee growing regions in the country. Often considered the birthplace of coffee production, local legend describes a young goat herder by the name of Kaldi tried the mysterious red berries after discovering his goats becoming energetic after eating them. The high elevation slows the growth allowing the berries to develop longer and produce a more complex flavor. 

Ethiopian Sidamo has a similar flavor to its neighboring region to the south, Yirgacheffe, with Sidamo having a more distinct earthiness flavor.
